a bit of history.....

LAMY first launched their Safari range in 1980 - now 40 years ago. The retro colours of the new special edition pens reflect the original Lamy Safari pens of the first Generation Safari pen produced in1980 - the Safari Savannah Green.

A few of the 1st Generation Savannah Green Safari Lamy pens are still available  -  LAMY produced only a small quantity of the pen in 1980. No one was to know how successful this style of pen would become. Reputedly the best selling fountain pen in the world. The first edition had no markings on the pen body or barrel and no LAMY logo on the nib - it was just black steel. One of the originals is now selling at auction for $795!! (truphaeinc.com)

This makes the new edition to mark the 40th anniversary of the Lamy Safari Fountain Pen seem a bargain at £20.90 RRP!!

The new special edition has a polished black nib with the LAMY logo printed on it. It also has the standard features of this range with the useful ink window, metal pocket clip and triangular finger grip area - to help to shape young hands correctly to produce a good writing style. It takes the usual T10 cartridges and can be used with the Lamy Z28 converter (available separately), for use with bottled ink.

Also available in the Rollerball and ballpoint versions, this lovely colour will coordinate well with our ranges of stationery and filing:
